My Sweet Sister, Linda Sue, Comes for a Visit...

How fun it was to have my dear Sissy Sue come to spend a week with me! She had many needed hours of rest and relaxation beading and crocheting and just taking it easy.

Of course I benefited from some of her handiwork. She made me a necklace, earrings, and a beautiful foot bracelet (I forget what they are called).

So pretty under the peach tree.

Harvest was in full swing while Linda was here and she watched me can corn (and beans, squash, peaches, and pickles).

She spotted me while I was up on the ladder picking delicious peaches.

And I fed her the most wonderful garden meals every day!

Moriah and the boys were able to come visit one of the days Linda was here.

Aunt Linda crocheted adorable hats for the little ones...and she and Moriah decorated them with google eyes and a smile!

Just as my kids loved her when they were little, Canyon and Trek couldn't get enough of their great-aunt. They had such a good time playing and goofing around.

Mocha and Aiko know a dog-lover when they meet one!

Best of all was just getting to spend so much time together! I love my sister.

At the end of the week, I took her back and watched her get onto the train that would carry her home again (not this one...the train was two hours late and we only had a couple of seconds in the dark to get her across the tracks and on board before the train departed!).

Poodle Puppies Eight Weeks Old

Taking one last picture of these sweet babies at the table the night before they go to their new homes. This has been an amazing adventure...more worry and work than I anticipated, but so many hours of pure puppy love. I will miss them some and have some relief when they are safely with their new families.

I just had to post this picture of Aiko taken a few minutes after the puppy photo. I cam back from putting them in their pen and found her on the table as if to say, "Is being on the table cute? I can get on the table too." Ironically the story Toryn read to the boys (see previous post), "Micky Finds a Kitten" was about Pluto going through some similar antics in a jealous response to all kinds of attention being paid to an orphan kitten Micky found. It was so funny; I snapped her picture then gently chided her as I lifted her from the table. She hasn't gone up again since. Silly girl.
Dala in her new home with Toryn and Fletch. Fletch is her father and playmate to be. He is an AKC miniature poodle with phantom markings.

More Summer Fun at Gram's, July 22-24 2012

Picking and Husking the corn is hard work, but it's sure worth the effort!

Making and wearing marigold garlands...my sweet and beautiful boys.

Trek could hardly keep his hands off the puppies. He learned to handle them so gently, and asked me every few hours if he could take one home.

Canyon patiently worked with Uncle Paho's old hot wheel and matchbox stuff until he had the "fastest race track ever"!
More puppy time with Mocha and Aiko in the background.

Toryn read several stories to the boys...somewhat tattered books, but still favorites after 30 years.

"She's getting tired, Gram. I'll carry her home."

Canyon made sand-covered mud balls to take home, but they weren't dry by the time he left. I've been saving them.

My boys' faces gazing into the pail where they put a baby horny toad they found.

One last look in precious hands before letting the tiny treasure free into a safe garden.

Randy's pool is so much fun! They begged me to take them back again.

Trek is old enough this year that I can handle the two boys at the pool by myself (not easy, but I can do it).

Trek absolutely loves Uncle Paho's old Battle Beasts. Rooster is often his favorite and he was so sad when he got lost in the sand. Canyon, Trek and I dug, raked, and sifted for a long time without luck. The evening after the boys went back home, Aiko ran to the top of the sand pile, started digging like crazy (she loves to dig) and guess what she found? Good girl, Aiko!
