My Boy Blue...August 7-9, 2013

I always enjoy in-person visits with my boy, Paho Blue. This time it was especially nice because Paho and Leigh are in their new house in Dallas. Ever since my kids grew up and left for homes of their own, I've noticed I feel much more at ease when I've set foot into the place where they are living. It helps me feel more connected to their contemporary lives.

The house fits them perfectly! It's a lovely comfortable mid-century (~1939) home in Dallas, Texas, kind of a Tudor-Early Ranch style, I think. The grand-dogs, Roma and Ed took awhile to acclimate, I guess, but were quite content by the time I arrived.

Roma was Paho's Birthday present to himself three years ago August. He and Leigh adopted her from a canine rescue where she had lived for quite awhile.  She's been his baby ever since (although she's probably 4 1/2 by now) and adds a lot of character to their home.

Leigh chose the next family member, Ed, another rescue pup, who has thrived in his new setting! Although Roma is boss most of the time, they get along well and really appreciate one another's company. Eddie is the funniest. most lovable boy!

Paho and Leigh in the dining room, sitting at the beautiful table that Leigh made! She is an artist and crafts person in one!

There is no denying that Paho loves napping with the dogs! Eddie above and Roma below know what it means when the big couch cover comes out. Snuggle time!

I love my Boy Blue! I can't wait to see him again.

I love my sisters! July 25-29 2013

I am always so excited when it's sister-time! It had been two years since we were all in one place, so I think everyone was waiting impatiently for the day to arrive. We had from July 25-29 together and made the most of every minute!

Dad and Fran joined us for lunch two days in a row and it was lovely to just sit and visit and catch up.

Linda crocheted a beautiful shrug for each of us. The modeling was as much fun as getting the special gifts!

My sisters are so creative! We spend a great deal of every visit together sitting around tables, immersed in craft and delightful conversation. This is where we truly learn what is going on in one another's lives. This is where we laugh and cry and offer support and love.

Mary, Linda and I went to Seal Beach one day while Debbie and Sharon perused a local bead fair. I couldn't wait to get in and Mary joined me just as eagerly. Sea salt in my hair is one of my favorite things in the world.

We ate like queens. I didn't miss my garden at all with all the delicious salads and veggies we prepared. Many hands made for short work. Yummmm!!!!

I might have missed my little pond except that I got to enjoy the beautiful water-haven Debbie and Chuck created. Complete with adorable frogs....

...Brutus Kong, the magnificent koi, and his loyal followers, the Goldfish Gang....

and two happy turtles coming up to greet us (well to eat what we offered, really) much to our delight.

Our last morning came all too soon. It always does. I missed my sissies as soon as I kissed them good-bye. I am so grateful to have them in my life. What a wonderful visit!
